Sandra sculpts clay, stone and wood, inspired by the human form and guided by the qualities of her materials. During this workshop, you’ll learn the fundamentals of modelling, a sculpting technique that involves shaping clay by hand, as you create your own original sculpture in clay from Provence.
During this three-hour workshop, Sandra invites you to explore the material, to understand its properties and to discover the many creative possibilities it offers.
This red clay from Provence becomes soft and pliable when moistened and can be shaped by hand or with the help of small modelling tools. Pressing, stretching, hollowing, smoothing, joining: ways to experiment with volume, relief and texture.
More about Sandra
A self-taught sculptor, Sandra creates and exhibits her work in Entrecasteaux, a charming village just a few hills away from Cotignac. Modelling, sculpture, engraving: her craftsmanship finds expression through natural materials such as clay, stone and wood. Working with clay, she seeks to portray the human figure, subtly conveying emotions through her characters’ poses and expressions. Stone and wood inspire her more abstract creations, where she plays with form and texture to create refined visual worlds.
