Medicinal plant, artists’ muse or notorious spirit? Vera, our herbalist, invites you to discover absinthe and its many facets. Botany, history, traditions and a tasting of two absinthes come together in this workshop dedicated to the fascinating world of the “Green Fairy”.

Used as a medicinal plant since Antiquity, absinthe holds a unique place in the history of aromatic herbs. Renowned for its distinctive bitterness and digestive properties, it has endured through the centuries before becoming one of Europe’s most iconic spirits in the 19th century. During this workshop, Vera will introduce you to the botany of absinthe, its traditional uses, the secrets of its production, and its remarkable journey from folk remedy to controversial drink. You will also discover the traditional preparation ritual that contributed to its fame before tasting two carefully selected absinthes.

Meet Vera

A former circus performer, Vera spent fifteen years travelling across Europe before returning to the Haut-Var region, where she grew up. Settling in Entrecasteaux in 2016, she chose to slow down and reconnect with nature. Passionate about medicinal plants and the traditional knowledge surrounding them, she trained in herbal medicine, aromatherapy and wild plant identification. Today, she shares her expertise through botanical walks, herbalism workshops and a range of wellbeing activities. Her approach, both rigorous and deeply rooted in the living world, invites participants to discover plants and their benefits from a fresh perspective.
